Android Ice Cream Sandwich Review

It’s been a couple of days since my EEE pad transformer got its upgrade to ICS and I’ve got to say despite some app teething problems, i’m impressed!
It looks like Google have finally take a leaf out of Apple’s book. I can’t say there was anything wrong with the interface until now, at least nothing you could put your finger on it just didn’t feel totally natural somehow. With ICS however, although nothing major was changed it has been tweaked and adjusted and it makes all the difference, and new blue colours are a huge improvement on the green.
The dictionary seems to work better and again “feels” nicer and more intuitive to use. I’m not sure if they have changed the keyboard but I am having a little trouble typing now till I get used to it.
The addition of folders in a massive plus allowing you to group apps into useful groups and therefore makes it easier to find them, especially when you have as many as I do installed.
The new ability to close apps from the quick launch box in lower left hand side was a much needed improvement. Same applies to the Running Tasks built in widget. I’m sure the ability to resize ANY widgets will be useful too once developers start implementing it.
The browser is also a lot more stable and now plays Flash content flawlessly which it didn’t always before, and the Save for offline is nice too, same as Switch to desktop. The built in data usage counter is useful too.
Battery life and performance are also greatly increased, giving me 9 hours and only having used 30% with wifi and various other things running constant. Which is one of the best new features.
Initially a few apps needed re-installed as were crashing, namely Google+ app, but that always happens with a new o/s upgrade and was hardly troublesome.
Overall a 10/10 improvement and thats not even covering under the hood changes allowing further development.
Can’t wait to see what will come next time in v5 probably next year.
